The PVS-31D or Delta from Elbit Systems of America became the new Marine Corps squad binocular in 2020, winning a major night vision contract for Elbit Systems’ previously available F5032 goggle platform. The unit is most often compared to the L3 PVS-31A, which is also supplied to various units and military groups, and shares the military designation of ‘PVS-31.’ The Delta, from Elbit Systems, utilizes Elbit’s highest performing thin film Gen 3 white phosphor image tubes, and includes a few additional goggle features compared to the L3 which include the ability to fully articulate both pods even when using the optional battery pack, inclusion of adjustable diopters, and double the factory warranty (2 years to L3’s 1 year on the PVS-31A).
